I have chosen to speak, sing, teach, and coach people for a living because I love using my gift of encouragement to inspire them to be and do their personal best. The eight books I’ve written are extensions of that same commitment — to inform and equip people far beyond my direct reach.
For over 30 years I have been blessed to travel the world D.A.R.E.ing people to succeed and inviting them to live every day believing in what is possible. One of my favorite memories is the night Les Brown and I were on stage together in Singapore. After I finished singing the title song from my CD, Live Every Day — the entire room rose to their feet. They got the message. And in that moment, so did I, all over again.
Running the New York City Marathon — twice — taught me things about leadership and life that no classroom ever could. It taught me the true power of discipline, the necessity of clear and focused action, and the importance of raising the bar on your own expectations and commitment — especially when the finish line feels impossibly far away. Most of all, it taught me that leadership influence begins with self leadership. Mark Sanborn said it best in his book You Don’t Need a Title to Be a Leader:
“All leadership begins with self-mastery. You can’t lead others until you can first lead yourself.” — Mark Sanborn
I say amen. And I make it my life’s work to help others, like you, to see it and be it. That conviction is the heartbeat behind everything I do. The frameworks, the keynotes, the coaching — all of it exists because I believe, deeply and without apology, that you were designed for more than you have yet dared to believe.
My personal invitation to you is: join me. Let’s close the gap — together.
